Anjana D Saxena

Anjana D. Saxena research centers on understanding how cells perceive different stresses, like DNA damage, and activate cellular responses. She specifically studies how nucleolar stress factors influence cell fate during DNA damage response, with implications for cancer and disorders.

Theodre Muth

Dr. Theodore Muth is an associate professor in the Biology Department. His laboratory investigates urban soil and green infrastructure microbial communities. A central inquiry guiding their work pertains to the influence of human activities on urban microbial populations, and how the degree of human engagement shapes the composition of these bacterial communities.

Zhongqi (Joshua) Cheng

Zhongqi (Joshua) Cheng is a professor in Earth and Environmental Sciences, affiliated with CUNY Graduate Center and Macaulay Honors College. He’s an associate editor for the Journal of Environmental Quality and co-founder of NYC Urban Soils Institute. Cheng is engaged in various initiatives including Healthy Soils Healthy Communities, Legacy Lead Coalition, and Mid Atlantic Biosolids Association.

PETER LIPKE

Peter Lipke, a microbiologist, focuses on fungal surfaces. His team investigates the impact of protein amyloids on fungal adhesion, host reactions to fungal colonization, and the potential for amyloid-targeted drugs as antifungals. Beyond this, he’s engaged in science education, enhancing opportunities for minorities in science, as well as mentoring and student growth.

JENNIFER BASIL

Jennifer Basil is the Associate Director of the Brooklyn College Cancer Center since 2020. Following her Ph.D., where she conducted a comparative analysis of spatial memory in food-storing birds, she worked as a Post-Doc at the Marine Biological Laboratory. Her focus was on sensory and navigation behavior in different crustaceans. She also earned a notable Grass Fellowship to research cephalopod behavior.
